The word Sage covers several unrelated programs, and the import route depends entirely on which one you run. The guides below are written for the US editions and follow each product's own help documentation. UK and Canadian editions of Sage 50 and Sage Accounting have different menus and formats.
Sage 50 U.S. imports a statement in OFX or QFX format from Tasks, Account Reconciliation. Pick the account and statement date, choose Import, select the file manually and import it. Sage notes three limits worth knowing before you start: the import works one month at a time, it marks transactions as cleared but does not create new transactions in Sage, and it is not available in Pro Accounting. A PDF has to be converted first. The full walk through is on the Sage 50 bank statement converter page, and if your bank feed stopped downloading, read the Sage 50 bank feeds not working guide.
Sage Intacct has two import routes in Cash Management. The classic reconciliation import reads CSV and QIF with dates as MM/DD/YYYY. The newer Bank transaction assistant also reads XLS, XLSX and OFX, and matches imported lines against the account's rule set. OFX is usually the cleaner file because it skips the classic import's fixed column names. See Sage Intacct bank reconciliation import from PDF statements.
Sage 300 Bank Services imports OFX from Common Services, Bank Services, Bank Transactions, Import OFX Statements, against a bank code. Reconcile E-Statements then matches each line on amount and on reference, payee or comment, and anything left over is cleared by hand or recorded with Bank Entry before you post. Step by step: Sage 300 bank reconciliation with OFX import from PDF statements.
Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate clears checks from a text file with four fields, bank account, check number, amount and cleared date, through Tools, Import Cleared Checks in Cash Management. Deposits and transfers are cleared on screen. Converting the PDF statement to CSV and reshaping the check lines in Excel gives you a file that matches your import format on the first try. Read Sage 300 CRE bank reconciliation with cleared checks from PDF statements.
Every one of these imports exists so that nobody keys a statement in by hand, and every one of them stops at the PDF. A converted file carries the posting date, amount, payee and description of each line exactly as printed, so the matching Sage runs afterward has real data to work with. Check the rows against the beginning and ending balances printed on the statement before you import, and work one month at a time, oldest first, when you catch up a year.
OFXStatement Starter is $49 a month, or $24.50 a month on the annual plan, for 2,500 pages from one shared pool, with statements up to 25 pages each. Plus is $149 a month for 10,000 pages, no per statement page cap, and bulk upload of up to 50 files at once for firms that reconcile many Sage clients. You can test 15 pages without a credit card before you pay.

Yes. Sage 300 Bank Services imports OFX through Bank Transactions, Import OFX Statements, against a bank code, and matches the lines in Reconcile E-Statements.
In Cash Management open Tools, Import Cleared Checks, select a comma delimited or fixed length text file with bank account, check number, amount and cleared date, choose the import format and click Start. Review the journal and the rejected records file.
OFX through the Bank transaction assistant is usually the cleanest, because it avoids the fixed column names of the classic CSV import and carries a unique identifier for every transaction.
