The quickest way to turn a USAA statement into OFX is to download the PDF from My Documents on usaa.com or in the app, upload it to OFXStatement and export OFX, CSV or Excel. USAA lists the last 18 months first; older statements appear once you widen the delivery date range in the Filter, and expired documents can be requested by phone.

Getting past the 18 months USAA shows first

The My Documents page opens on roughly a year and a half of history, which is why many members assume that is all there is. USAA's own documents FAQ says otherwise: open Filter, stretch the Delivery date range back, and older statements load into the same list. Each PDF opens in a viewer, and the Menu icon there has the download option.

USAA also notes that how long a document stays available differs by document type, and that it can sometimes research and retrieve an expired one, possibly for a fee, through 877-632-3002. Whatever route the PDF takes to reach you, the converter treats it the same way.

Where your USAA statement PDFs come from

Based on USAA's Managing Online Documents FAQ.

Situation What to do
Statement from the past 18 monthsIt is in the default My Documents list; open it and download from the Menu icon
Older statement still on fileFilter, then extend the Delivery date range to the year you need

USAA's FAQ advises saving important documents yourself, so download the full set once and keep it with your records.

Who needs USAA statements as OFX or Excel

USAA members move often and bank from wherever the orders send them, so their records tend to end up as a folder of PDFs rather than one clean bank feed. These are the people who turn that folder into data.

Military families on budgeting software

A deployment or a PCS move is when a bank connection lapses. Rebuild the missing months in Moneydance or GnuCash from OFX, or in Quicken from the CSV.

Tax preparers for service members

Preparers who see military clients get statements emailed as PDFs. Excel lets them total deposits and spot transfers between accounts quickly.

VA and conventional loan officers

Underwriting asks for recent months of deposits. An Excel sheet of the USAA statements is faster to review than paging through PDFs.

Bookkeepers for veteran-owned businesses

Small businesses that run on a USAA account need prior months in Xero or QuickBooks Online. OFX or CSV gets them there without retyping.

What ends up in the USAA OFX file

We write OFX version 1.0.2 (SGML), the dialect Xero, Moneydance, GnuCash and Microsoft Money read without complaint. Every transaction printed on the USAA statement turns into its own STMTTRN record.

DTPOSTED

The posting date as YYYYMMDD, so a deposit made on the last day of a statement period lands in the right month.

TRNAMT and TRNTYPE

Money in is positive and typed CREDIT; money out is negative and typed DEBIT. Your totals match the statement summary.

CHECKNUM

Paper checks keep their number and get TRNTYPE CHECK, which makes clearing outstanding checks a lookup instead of a hunt.

NAME and MEMO

NAME holds the first 32 characters, the OFX limit. MEMO carries the full description, so long ACH and transfer text survives.

FITID

A stable ID built from the date, amount, description and row position. Import the same month twice and the software spots the repeat.

LEDGERBAL

The closing balance, written only when the statement prints one. We never compute or guess a balance that is not on the page.

Quicken is the exception. It only accepts OFX-type files that carry the issuing bank's own sign-on ID, and an honest third-party tool cannot supply that. Quicken users import the CSV instead, as laid out on our Quicken bank statement converter page.

How to convert a USAA statement to OFX in four steps

1

Download from My Documents

Sign in on usaa.com or the USAA app, open My Documents, widen the date filter if needed and save each statement PDF.

2

Upload the batch

Drop all the months in at once. Starter handles statements up to 25 pages; Plus has no page cap and takes 50 files per batch.

3

Check against page one

Compare the extracted deposits and withdrawals with the statement summary. Any difference points straight at the month to review.

4

Pick your format

OFX for Xero, Moneydance, GnuCash or NetSuite. CSV for Quicken and QuickBooks Online. Excel for a lender or your preparer.

Several years of statements across checking and savings is a folder job. The bulk bank statement converter processes the whole folder in one pass.

How much it costs to convert USAA statements

You pay by page. If your USAA checking statement is around five pages, two years of one account is about 120 pages, which fits inside a single month of the Starter plan many times over.

Plan Price Monthly pages Good for
Demo$015 total, 5 per file, watermarkTesting one USAA statement end to end

Plus$149 a month, or $894 billed yearly12,000, no statement length limitTax and bookkeeping practices, API access

Each plan is one user. Higher-volume Pro tiers and the full feature list are on the pricing page.

USAA statement conversion questions

How do I get old bank statements from USAA?

Open My Documents, choose Filter and extend the Delivery date range past the default 18 months. If a statement has expired online, USAA says it may be able to retrieve it, sometimes for a fee, when you call 877-632-3002. Once you have the PDF, upload it here to get OFX, CSV or Excel.

Can I convert a USAA statement to Excel?

Yes. One conversion produces Excel and CSV alongside the OFX, with date, description, amount and check number in separate columns. Downloading a second format does not use more pages.

Can I import USAA statements into QuickBooks?

QuickBooks Online takes the CSV or the OFX through its bank upload. QuickBooks Desktop Web Connect only reads a QBO file issued by the bank itself, which no converter can create, so Desktop users bring the CSV in with a separate import tool.

Does it read scanned or photographed USAA statements?

Yes. Besides PDF, the upload accepts JPG, PNG, BMP, HEIC and TIFF, and scanned pages go through OCR. A flat, well-lit photo of each page gives the cleanest result.

Do you need my USAA username or password?

No. You download the statements yourself and upload the files; nothing connects to your USAA account. Your files stay in your account until you delete them and are not used to train models.
