To convert a Truist statement to OFX, sign in to Truist Online Banking, open Documents, save the statement PDFs, then upload them to OFXStatement and export OFX, CSV or Excel. Truist keeps paperless statements for deposit accounts up to 7 years, so several tax years can usually be rebuilt from files you already have access to.

How far back Truist statements go online

The window depends on the product, and it is much shorter for loans and cards than for checking. Truist publishes the ranges in a footnote on its digital banking pages and shows the exact figure for each of your accounts inside Online Banking, under Documents.

The practical takeaway: if you are catching up a credit card or a line of credit, download those PDFs first, because they age out within about two years. Checking and savings statements can wait a little longer.

Account type Available online

Mortgage and trust accountsUp to 18 months

Truist business accounts and the 18-month history limit

Truist small business online banking lets you download or print up to 18 months of account history, including images of paid checks and deposit tickets, and it can connect to accounting software such as QuickBooks. That covers the current year well. It does not cover a cleanup that reaches back three or four years, or a client who never connected a feed at all.

Statements are the longer record. When a bookkeeper takes on a Truist client mid-year, or a CPA needs the prior two years for an amended return, the monthly PDF statements are what is still there. Converting them gives you the same transactions as structured data, ready for Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite or a working paper in Excel.

Who converts Truist statements

Bookkeepers across the Southeast

Truist branches are concentrated in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Firms in that footprint see its statements constantly and need them in the ledger, not in a PDF viewer.

CPAs and tax preparers

A client hands over a year of Truist statements in April. Excel totals by month and a searchable description column make the deposit review a short job.

Lenders and attorneys

Business loan files, divorce discovery and estate work all ask for bank activity line by line. A spreadsheet from the statements answers that request directly.

Which export to pick for your software

A single conversion gives you all three files, so the choice is only about where the data goes next.

Destination File to use Why
Xero, NetSuite, Moneydance, GnuCashOFXEach transaction carries a unique FITID, so a month imported twice is flagged as a duplicate
QuickBooks OnlineOFX or CSVBoth go through Upload transactions; split large histories into batches under 1,000 lines
QuickenCSVQuicken only accepts OFX-type files signed by the bank itself, so the CSV import is the route
Loan file, audit, litigationExcelSort, filter and total deposits without touching accounting software

Our OFX is version 1.0.2 SGML. Checks keep their check number, descriptions longer than the 32-character NAME field are kept whole in MEMO, and a closing balance is written only when the Truist statement prints one. Quicken users can follow the CSV walkthrough on the Quicken bank statement converter page.

Converting Truist PDF statements step by step

1

Collect the PDFs

In Truist Online Banking go to Documents, pick the account and save each monthly statement. Paper statements can be scanned or photographed instead.

2

Upload and review

Add every month in one go. The extracted table shows date, description and amount per row, so you can compare totals with the statement summary before exporting.

3

Export and import

Download OFX, CSV or Excel and bring it into your ledger. Re-exporting later gives the same transaction IDs, so nothing doubles up.

What a Truist conversion costs

Billing is per page, not per statement or per account. Three years of a business checking account with eight-page statements is roughly 290 pages, a tenth of one month on Starter.

Truist conversion questions

How do I download my Truist bank statements?

Sign in to Truist Online Banking, open Documents, choose the account and the statement period, and save the PDF. Deposit account statements stay available for up to 7 years. Upload the saved PDFs here to turn them into OFX, CSV or Excel.

How far back can I get Truist statements?

Truist lists up to 7 years for deposit and brokerage accounts, up to 2 years for credit cards, up to 24 months for home equity lines and personal or auto loans, and up to 18 months for mortgage and trust accounts. Your own window shows under Documents.

Can I convert a Truist statement to Excel?

Yes. Every conversion includes an Excel workbook and a CSV next to the OFX, with dates, descriptions, amounts and check numbers in their own columns. Downloading more than one format does not use extra pages.

Will it work on old BB&T or SunTrust statements?

Yes. The extraction reads the transaction table on the page rather than relying on one fixed template, so statements printed under the BB&T or SunTrust names before the merger convert the same way as current Truist ones.

Do I have to give you my Truist login?

No. You upload statement files you downloaded yourself, and nothing connects to your Truist account. Files remain in your account until you delete them and are not used for model training.
