To convert a U.S. Bank statement to OFX, sign in to U.S. Bank digital banking, open Accounts and pick the statement type, save the PDFs, then upload them to OFXStatement and export OFX, CSV or Excel. U.S. Bank shows up to seven years of e-statements, but only 18 months of transaction history online, so the PDFs are the longer record.

How far back U.S. Bank history goes online

U.S. Bank help pages draw a line between statements and transaction history. Statements are the long record. Transaction history is the short one, and that gap is why people end up holding a pile of PDFs.

The bank also offers its own transaction download in CSV, QFX or QBO form. That works for recent activity. It does not help when the history you need has already scrolled out of the online window, which is exactly the case where the monthly statement is all that is left.

What U.S. Bank shows online

As stated in U.S. Bank help articles.

Record Available online
E-statements (PDF)Up to 7 years
Transaction history, online bankingLast 18 months
Transaction history, mobile appLast 6 months
Certificates of depositNo monthly statements, only maturity notices and a year-end interest statement

When the online window is not enough

A bookkeeper who takes over a U.S. Bank client in October can pull the last 18 months of activity from online banking. A cleanup that reaches back three or four years, a lender asking for twenty-four months of deposits, or a client who never connected a feed all come down to monthly statements.

Converting those PDFs gives the same transactions as structured data, ready for Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite or a working paper in Excel. Statements ordered as copies from the bank, scanned paper or phone photos work the same way as files saved from digital banking.

Who converts U.S. Bank statements

Bookkeepers in the Midwest and West

U.S. Bank is one of the largest banks in those regions, so practices there see its statements constantly and need them in the ledger, not in a PDF viewer.

CPAs and tax preparers

A client hands over a year of U.S. Bank statements in April. Excel totals by month and a searchable description column make the deposit review a short job.

Lenders and attorneys

Business loan files, divorce discovery and estate work all ask for bank activity line by line. A spreadsheet from the statements answers that request directly.

Which export to pick for your software

A single conversion gives you all three files, so the choice is only about where the data goes next.

Destination File to use Why
Xero, NetSuite, Moneydance, GnuCashOFXEach transaction carries a unique FITID, so a month imported twice is flagged as a duplicate
QuickBooks OnlineOFX or CSVBoth go through Upload transactions; split large histories into batches under 1,000 lines
QuickenCSVQuicken only accepts OFX-type files signed by the bank itself, so the CSV import is the route
Loan file, audit, litigationExcelSort, filter and total deposits without touching accounting software

Our OFX is version 1.0.2 SGML. Checks keep their check number, descriptions longer than the 32-character NAME field are kept whole in MEMO, and a closing balance is written only when the U.S. Bank statement prints one. Quicken users can follow the CSV walkthrough on the Quicken bank statement converter page.

Converting U.S. Bank PDF statements step by step

1

Collect the PDFs

In online banking open Accounts, choose the document type, pick the account, change the year as needed and save each monthly statement. Paper statements can be scanned or photographed instead.

2

Upload and review

Add every month in one go. The extracted table shows date, description and amount per row, so you can compare totals with the statement summary before exporting.

3

Export and import

Download OFX, CSV or Excel and bring it into your ledger. Re-exporting later gives the same transaction IDs, so nothing doubles up.

What a U.S. Bank conversion costs

Billing is per page, not per statement or per account. Three years of a business checking account with eight-page statements is roughly 290 pages, a tenth of one month on Starter.

U.S. Bank conversion questions

How do I download my U.S. Bank statements?

Sign in to online banking, open the Accounts menu, choose the document type and the account, change the year to reach older documents, then click the statement and save it. In the mobile app use Statements & docs. Upload the saved PDFs here to get OFX, CSV or Excel.

How far back can I get U.S. Bank statements?

U.S. Bank states that you can view up to seven years of e-statements in digital banking. Transaction history is shorter, 18 months online and six months in the mobile app. Certificates of deposit have no monthly statements.

Can I convert a U.S. Bank statement to Excel?

Yes. Every conversion includes an Excel workbook and a CSV next to the OFX, with dates, descriptions, amounts and check numbers in their own columns. Downloading more than one format does not use extra pages.

Does it work on scanned or ordered copies?

Yes. The extraction reads the transaction table on the page rather than one fixed template, so statements from older years, scanned paper or phone photos convert the same way as freshly saved e-statements.

Do I have to give you my U.S. Bank login?

No. You upload statement files you downloaded yourself, and nothing connects to your U.S. Bank account. Files remain in your account until you delete them and are not used for model training.
