Capital One Bank Statement Converter for PDF Statements to OFX and CSV

Capital One posts a PDF statement for each period, and those PDFs are often the only record of older activity. Upload them, confirm the totals match, and export OFX for your accounting or money software, or CSV and Excel for a spreadsheet.

Getting older Capital One activity into your books

Recent Capital One transactions are easy to grab from the website or app. Last year's are a different job. For any period your software never synced, the statement is the record you can still download, and a statement arrives as a PDF. Converting it is faster and far more accurate than typing a year of deposits and debit card lines by hand.

Four things from Capital One's own help center are worth knowing before you start.

Seven years online

Capital One shows up to 7 years of statements for active accounts.

Paperless required

You must be enrolled in paperless statements to view them online.

Ready by the 6th

Bank statements are typically generated online by the 6th of each month.

Quiet savings go quarterly

A savings account with no activity gets a quarterly statement instead of a monthly one.

That last point trips up reconciliations: a savings account can show a three-month gap that is not missing data at all. Convert the quarterly statement as it is and the opening and closing balances still tie out.

How to convert a Capital One statement to OFX

1

Get the PDF

In the Capital One website or app, open the account, go to statements, and save the periods you need. Turn on paperless first if the statements do not appear.

2

Upload it here

Drag in one statement or a stack of them. Scanned paper statements and phone photos are read too.

3

Tie out the balances

Check the extracted list against the beginning balance, ending balance and totals printed on the statement. Fix any row in the table before exporting.

4

Download and import

Choose OFX, CSV or Excel. OFX rows carry a FITID that stays the same if you export the statement again, so a second import does not create doubles.

What it costs to convert Capital One statements

You pay per page. Try a real statement on the 15-page demo first (5 pages per file, watermarked output). Starter costs $49 a month or $294 billed yearly for 3,000 pages a month, which is a lot of Capital One statements. Plus, at $149 a month or $894 a year, removes the 25-page limit per statement and adds 50-file bulk upload and an API.

Plans are single-user. See the pricing page for every limit, or the MoneyThumb alternative comparison if you are weighing per-statement pricing instead.

Exports

OFX, CSV, Excel and JSON, all included.

Uploads

PDF and images (JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, BMP), up to 50 MB and 50 files at a time.

Capital One bank statement converter FAQ

How far back can I get Capital One bank statements?

Up to seven years online for active accounts, according to Capital One, as long as you are enrolled in paperless statements. For closed accounts or older periods, ask Capital One for copies, then convert the PDFs or scans here.

Can I convert a Capital One statement to Excel?

Yes. Each conversion gives you Excel and CSV as well as OFX, with the date, description and a signed amount in their own columns, ready to sort, filter or pivot.

Does this work for Capital One credit card statements?

Yes. Card statements convert the same way. The credit card statement to OFX page covers card-specific details such as payments, interest and fees.

Will QuickBooks Online accept the file?

Yes. The QuickBooks Online bank upload accepts both CSV and OFX. Keep each file under roughly 1,000 transactions, which a month or a quarter of statements easily fits.

Do you connect to my Capital One account?

No. You download the statements and upload the files yourself. No bank credentials are asked for, your files stay in your account until you delete them, and they are not used to train models.
