TL;DR: The best bank statement analysis software for a lender depends on whether you need fraud detection and cash flow analytics, or just the transactions. Ocrolus and Inscribe lead on fraud signals and income analytics but publish no price, and Ocrolus sells on a one year auto renewing contract. MoneyThumb PDF Insights is the analysis tool with a published entry point, from $599.95 a year, billed per statement month with unlimited seats. DocuClipper is the priced converter for QuickBooks work, $29 to $899 a month by page volume. If you only need applicant statements turned into Excel, CSV or OFX to run your own analysis, OFXStatement does that for $49 a month, or $24.50 a month billed annually, with no contract and 15 free pages to test.

What bank statement analysis software actually does

The category name hides two different products. The first layer is extraction: reading a PDF or scanned statement and producing clean rows of date, description, amount and balance. The second layer is analysis: tagging those rows into revenue and expense categories, counting NSF and negative balance days, calculating true revenue and debt coverage, and scoring the document itself for tampering. Lenders pay for the second layer. Brokers, small funders and the accounting firms that prepare lender ready packages often only need the first, and they overpay when they buy the second by accident.

Every vendor below was checked on its own website on 16 September 2026. Where a vendor publishes no price, the table says so rather than repeating a directory guess, because in this market the directory guesses are wrong more often than they are right.

Ocrolus

Ocrolus is the platform most US lenders shortlist first. Its documentation splits the product into Classify, Capture, Detect and Analyze, with Detect returning an Authenticity Score for each document and Analyze producing cash flow analytics for small business funding and income calculations for mortgage that follow Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA and USDA rules. For non-QM files, where income comes from deposits rather than tax returns, our bank statement income calculator shows the same expense factor and ownership arithmetic without the platform. Uncertain fields can be routed to human verifiers through its Complete workflow, and it integrates with Encompass, MeridianLink, Plaid and Finicity.

What it costs is the problem. There is no dollar figure anywhere on ocrolus.com and the pricing URL redirects to the home page. Its published Master Services Agreement sets a one year initial term with automatic renewals, 45 days written notice to cancel, and an annual increase cap of the lesser of 1.5 times CPI or 5 percent after the first year. Vendr reports a median contract of $98,250 a year. We laid the whole contract out on our Ocrolus pricing page, and the Ocrolus alternative page covers what a converter does and does not replace. Buy it if you underwrite at volume and fraud losses are a line on your P&L. Do not buy it to get a spreadsheet.

Inscribe

Inscribe positions itself as an AI fraud analyst that catches manipulated documents before they reach underwriting, and its bank statement analyzer page leads with fraud detection rather than extraction. It is aimed at fintech lenders and banks. On price it is the least transparent of the six: when we requested inscribe.ai/pricing on 16 September 2026 the server answered HTTP 401 Unauthorized, and the home page offers only a demo request. There is no trial button and no published unit. If fraud detection is your primary requirement, put it beside Ocrolus in the same demo cycle and compare the Order Forms, because nothing public will let you compare them beforehand.

MoneyThumb PDF Insights

MoneyThumb is better known for its converters, but its lender line, PDF Server and PDF Insights, is the one analysis product here with a public starting price. The pricing page states Starting at $599.95 per year, pay only for what you need, with no monthly minimums. PDF Server delivers structured data with reconciliation against the account summary and Thumbprint fraud detection. PDF Insights adds cash flow analytics, an underwriting scorecard with more than 75 transaction categories, true revenue calculation, DSCR and other ratios, and year over year tax return analysis. The product page claims a scorecard in under 5 seconds and recognition of 95 percent of US bank statements.

Billing is per conversion, where a conversion is one monthly statement, and a 3 page document costs the same as an 80 page one. Statements with fewer than 5 transactions and repeat uploads are not charged. Seats are unlimited and free, and the FAQ says there are no start up fees and no commercial contracts. The individual tier prices above $599.95 are not on the page, so you still request the ladder, but the entry point and the unit are public, which puts it ahead of every other analysis vendor on this list for a buyer who needs a budget number today. Our MoneyThumb pricing page covers its converter line, which is priced separately.

Docsumo

Docsumo is a document AI platform rather than a lending product. It extracts and validates data from bank statements and other documents and delivers it by API, webhook or Excel, and lenders use it to feed underwriting models they built themselves. It publishes no numeric price: Business and Enterprise both say Talk to us, set up fees are extra, and monthly credits do not roll over. The Docsumo pricing page goes through the details, including a plan card that contradicts its own FAQ on seats. Right if you are building analysis into your own software, wrong if you want a scorecard out of the box.

DocuClipper

DocuClipper is a converter, not an analyzer, but it belongs here because it is what most small funders and accounting firms actually buy after pricing the platforms above. It publishes its full ladder: $29, $39, $79, $159, $219, $299, $400, $599 and $899 a month for 60, 120, 300, 640, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 3,000 and 5,000 pages, with unlimited users, a 14 day trial of 120 pages, and exports including Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX, QFX and QIF. There is no fraud score and no cash flow scorecard. The DocuClipper pricing page explains how page counting changes the real cost, since a 12 page statement uses 12 pages.

OFXStatement

We are the extraction only option, so here is the honest position. OFXStatement reads PDF and scanned statements, including phone photos, and returns the transactions as OFX, CSV, Excel or JSON, through the browser or, on the Pro plan from $499 a month for 35,000 pages, an API. Starter is $49 a month for 2,500 pages, or $24.50 a month billed annually. Plus is $149 a month, or $74.50 billed annually, for 10,000 pages with batches of 50 files. There is no fraud detection, no scorecard and one seat per plan, and there is no contract. The first 15 pages are free so you can check the output on your ugliest applicant statement before paying. If your underwriter already has a cash flow template in Excel and just needs the rows, this is the cheapest way to get them, by a wide margin. Everything we know about the extraction market is on the bank statement extraction software page.

What each option costs at real lender volumes

Statement counts convert to pages at roughly four pages per statement for a typical business checking account, which is the assumption below. Ocrolus and Inscribe are quote only, so those cells reflect what is publicly known rather than a price.

Monthly workloadOcrolusMoneyThumb PDF InsightsDocuClipperOFXStatement
50 statements, about 200 pagesBelow the volumes its reported contracts describeFrom $599.95 a year; the conversions included at that price are not published$79 tier, 300 pages$49 Starter, or $24.50 a month annual

The pattern is consistent. Under a few hundred statements a month, the platforms are priced for a different customer, MoneyThumb PDF Insights is the cheapest way to get a real scorecard, and a converter is the cheapest way to get the data. Above a thousand statements a month, the platform contract starts to earn its keep on underwriter hours, and the conversation with Ocrolus or Inscribe is worth having, with the escalation and renewal clauses read before you sign.

How to choose bank statement analysis software

Answer four questions before any demo. First, do you need a fraud score, or do you have another control for tampered documents? A fraud score is the one thing a converter cannot give you. Second, do you need the software to calculate revenue, NSF days and DSCR, or does your credit team already do that in a template? Third, how many seats, because Ocrolus sets that in the contract, DocuClipper and MoneyThumb include unlimited users, and OFXStatement is single seat. Fourth, can you sign for a year? Ocrolus requires it. MoneyThumb and DocuClipper do not, and neither do we.

One practical note for accounting firms assembling lender ready packages for clients: the analysis tools above want bank statements, but the lender will also ask for financial statements, and if the client only has a bookkeeping export you can generate the P&L and balance sheet from that export rather than rebuilding them by hand. The statement conversion and the financial statements are two separate jobs, and neither tool does the other.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best software to analyze bank statements for a loan?

For a lender that needs fraud detection and cash flow scoring, Ocrolus is the most complete platform and MoneyThumb PDF Insights is the most affordable with a published entry price of $599.95 a year. For a broker or accounting firm that needs the transactions in a spreadsheet to analyze themselves, a converter such as OFXStatement at $49 a month is the practical choice.

How much does bank statement analysis software cost?

From $49 a month for extraction only, to $599.95 a year for MoneyThumb analysis tools, to five and six figure annual contracts for Ocrolus, where Vendr reports a median of $98,250. Ocrolus, Inscribe and Docsumo publish no price at all, so any figure you see for them online is a third party estimate.

Is there a bank statement analysis tool that does not require a contract?

Yes. MoneyThumb states there are no commercial contracts on its lender products, DocuClipper sells month to month, and OFXStatement has monthly plans with no term. Ocrolus, by contrast, sets a one year initial term that renews automatically unless you give 45 days written notice.

Can bank statement analysis software detect fake bank statements?

The lending platforms can. Ocrolus Detect checks for file tampering, inconsistent dates and amounts, abnormal fonts and irregular formats and returns an Authenticity Score. MoneyThumb Thumbprint and Inscribe make the same kind of check. Converters, including ours, do not score authenticity; they extract what the document says.

Do I need bank statement analysis software or a bank statement converter?

If a person on your team will read the numbers and make the credit decision, a converter gives them the rows for a fraction of the price. If you want the software to make or pre-score the decision, or you process enough volume that underwriter hours dominate the cost, you need the analysis layer and should budget for a platform.

The short version

Three of the six tools publish a price and three do not, and the three that do not are the ones built for high volume underwriting. If that is you, book the Ocrolus and Inscribe demos and read the contracts. If you need a scorecard on a budget, MoneyThumb PDF Insights starts at $599.95 a year. If you need this month applicant statements turned into Excel, CSV or OFX, the converter above this article will do it now, and the first 15 pages cost nothing.
