TL;DR: 2qbo Convert Pro is no longer sold. MoneyThumb has retired its installed desktop converters and moved the whole line to online subscriptions, and it now 301 redirects the old product pages to them. Checked on 5 September 2026: the shop URL /shop/2qbo-convert-pro-plus/ redirects to MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks, /shop/2qfx-convert-pro-plus/ redirects to MoneyThumb Online for Quicken, and /2qbo-convert-pro/ returns 404. If you were about to buy a one time license, that option is gone. Your realistic replacements are MoneyThumb Online at $24.95 a month for 5 conversions, a page based converter, or a statement converter with a monthly page allowance.
Is 2qbo Convert Pro discontinued?
Yes. As of September 2026 MoneyThumb no longer sells 2qbo Convert Pro or the wider desktop line, and there is no license price left to compare. The product still has a following among QuickBooks ProAdvisors, so search results are full of download mirrors and old vendor articles that make it look current. They are not.
We checked four ways on 5 September 2026 rather than relying on any of those pages:
- The MoneyThumb shop lists seven products and every one of them is online: Convert2OFX, Convert2QBO, Convert2QFX, Convert2XLS, PDF Insights, PDF Insights with Thumbprint and SlickConnect.
- The product sitemap carries only the four online converters. No desktop entries at all.
- The old shop URL /shop/2qbo-convert-pro-plus/ answers with an HTTP 301 to /quickbooks-converters-benefits/, titled MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks. The Quicken equivalent, /shop/2qfx-convert-pro-plus/, redirects to /quicken-benefits/.
- The plain /2qbo-convert-pro/ product URL returns 404.
A vendor pointing its own desktop product pages at a subscription is about as clear a statement of intent as the market gives you. The help documentation is still up, which is useful if you are running an existing installation, but a help page is not a shop.
What replaced 2qbo Convert Pro?
MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks, sold as Convert2QBO. It does the same core job, turning PDF and other financial files into a .QBO you can import, but you rent it by the conversion instead of owning a license.
The price ladder is the same across all four online converters. These figures come from the product data on MoneyThumb own shop pages, read on 5 September 2026.
| Renewal type | Conversions | Price | Cost per conversion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 5 per month | $24.95 | about $4.99 |
| Monthly | 20 per month | $49.95 | about $2.50 |
| Monthly | 60 per month | $99.95 | about $1.67 |
| Yearly | 25 per year | $124.95 | about $5.00 |
| Yearly | 60 per year | $199.95 | about $3.33 |
| Yearly | 240 per year | $399.95 | about $1.67 |
| Yearly | 800 per year | $799.95 | about $1.00 |
Convert2QBO and Convert2XLS also carry larger auto refill tiers, at $1,199.95 for 1,500 conversions, $2,199.95 for 3,000 and $3,999.95 for 6,000, which take the rate down to about $0.67. The full breakdown, including a genuine arbitrage between the monthly and yearly columns, is on our MoneyThumb pricing page.
What is a conversion, and why does it matter more than the price?
A conversion is one monthly statement, not one file. MoneyThumb states that if it detects a multi month PDF it splits the document by month and charges one conversion per month covered. So a single PDF holding a year of history is twelve conversions, not one.
This is the number that decides whether the subscription is cheap or expensive for you, and it is the main thing that changed when the desktop license went away. With a perpetual license, a client arriving with three years of back statements cost you nothing extra. On the subscription, that same client is 36 conversions, which is more than seven months of the entry plan spent on one onboarding.
The flip side is real and worth stating. MoneyThumb does not charge by the page: their pricing FAQ says a 3 page document costs the same as an 80 page one. If your clients bank somewhere that produces thick statements, that is a genuine advantage over every page based tool, and per conversion pricing overtakes per page pricing at roughly ten pages per statement.
Can I still use my existing 2qbo Convert Pro license?
If it is installed and activated, it will keep converting. What you lose is the future: no new licenses to buy for a second machine or a new staff member, no reason to expect continued bank format updates, and no path to a fresh install if the machine dies. Bank statement layouts change constantly, and a converter that stops being maintained degrades quietly, one bank at a time, rather than failing all at once.
Treat it as a wasting asset. Keep using it while it works, but make the replacement decision now while there is no pressure, rather than during a close when a client statement suddenly will not parse. Export a copy of any custom import settings you built up, because those will not migrate.
What should you buy instead?
Three options are worth pricing, and which one wins depends almost entirely on how many statements you convert and how long they are.
| Option | Billing unit | Entry price | Produces QBO | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks | One conversion per statement month | $24.95 a month for 5 | Yes | Staying with the vendor you know, and long statements where page count does not matter |
| OFXStatement | Pages, on a monthly allowance | $49 a month for 2,500 pages | Yes, on the Plus plan | Volume: dozens or hundreds of statements a month, including scans and phone photos |
| DocuClipper | Each PDF page processed | $29 a month for 60 pages | Yes | Mixed document work: invoices, receipts, checks and tax forms as well as statements |
| Manual entry | Your time | Nothing, in cash | No | A single short statement, once. Nothing beyond that |
Take a normal month and count separate monthly statements, remembering that a multi month PDF counts once per month inside it. Then add roughly half again for quarter ends and onboarding, which are the months that overshoot whatever tier you picked.
Under about 5 statements a month, MoneyThumb Online at $24.95 is the lowest commitment and the least disruption, since the interface and output are what you already know. Between 5 and 20 a month, the arithmetic starts to favor an allowance: their $49.95 tier buys 20 conversions, while $49 on our Starter plan buys 2,500 pages, which is roughly 200 statements of average length. Above that, per statement pricing stops being competitive for statement heavy work, and it is worth reading the MoneyThumb alternative breakdown before renewing anything.
Does the replacement still produce a QBO file QuickBooks Desktop will accept?
It has to, and this is the detail to check before you pay anyone. QuickBooks Desktop Web Connect reads .QBO and nothing else. It will not take OFX, CSV or QFX, so a converter that exports a long list of formats is no use to you unless QBO is on it.
MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks produces QBO. DocuClipper produces QBO. Our converter does not produce QBO. It exports OFX, CSV and Excel, so it serves QuickBooks Online rather than Desktop Web Connect. QuickBooks Online is more forgiving and accepts .csv, .txt, .qbo, .ofx and QFX uploads, but caps a single upload at about 1,000 lines and roughly 350 KB, so long histories need splitting either way. If your work is entirely QuickBooks bound rather than mixed, a dedicated bank statement to QuickBooks converter is a narrower and simpler path than a general document tool.
Do the replacements read scanned statements?
This was what PDF+ did on the desktop product, and it was sold as a paid add on that renewed annually. It is the capability most people forget to check when they switch, then discover on the first client who photographs their statements with a phone.
Test it rather than trusting a feature list. Upload your three worst documents during a trial: a scan, a phone photo taken at an angle, and a credit card statement with a multi column layout. Every tool in this category handles a clean digital PDF from a large bank, so that test separates nothing. Our converter accepts PDF, JPG, PNG, BMP, HEIC, TIFF and TXT, up to 50 MB per file and 50 files per batch, which covers the photographed and faxed statements that bookkeeping work actually produces. It does not accept CSV or Excel as input, so if part of your old 2qbo workflow was converting a CSV into QBO, that specific path needs a different tool.
Was 2qbo Convert Pro worth its price?
For the people who bought it, usually yes, and that is why the switch stings. A one time license at a few hundred dollars amortized to almost nothing across years of use, it ran locally so client documents never left the machine, and the reconcile feature that checked extracted credits and debits against the printed opening and closing balances was genuinely good practice that a lot of cloud tools skip.
Reproduce that last habit whatever you move to. After every conversion, check the totals against the balances printed on the statement before the file goes near your ledger. It takes under a minute and it is the step that catches a misread column or a dropped page before it becomes a reconciliation problem three weeks later.
What this actually costs you, in one sentence
Moving from a perpetual license to a subscription turns a sunk cost into a recurring one, so the question is no longer which tool is best but which billing unit matches your work: per statement if you convert a few long documents, per page if you convert many. If you are rebuilding a client book from back statements rather than running a steady monthly cycle, price it as a project first, and the bookkeeping cleanup converter page walks through that workload. To see every tool in the category side by side before you commit, the bank statement converter comparison covers features, formats and price together.
